Pillar of Care UK also focuses on the following:

  • Work extensively on support plans and risk assessments- ensuring detailed, comprehensive person-centred information to allow all staff to accurately support each service user.
  • Provide a safe group living therapeutic environment with a high level of support (24 hours including waking night) staffed by experienced mental health support workers managed by a team of mental health professionals.
  • Each resident will have a key-worker who will engage with him and who will aim to develop a therapeutic relationship based on trust empathy and mutual understanding. Residents will have regular recorded key working sessions allowing time to express thoughts, feelings, anxieties etc.
  • Residents mental state and behaviour will be monitored with observations recorded and regularly evaluated.
  • Staff will work with the individual to support them to be fully compliant with his prescribed medication.
  • Staff will be aware of relapse indicators and appropriate responses.
  • Support will be given to access Drug and Alcohol Specialist Service if required.
  • Support will be provided to develop his self-esteem and confidence.
  • Support will be given for service users to develop positive coping strategies.
  • Residents will register with a local G.P., have access to a dentist, optician and other health professionals.
  • The service will promote a healthy lifestyle.
  • Support will be given to maintain existing and develop new positive social contacts.
  • Encouragement and support will be provided for the residents to attend reviews and any external appointments. Escorts and house transport can be available.
  • Regular contact will be maintained with members of the clinical team where appropriate to monitor progress, mental state and review level of risk.
  • A contingency plan will be in place.
